Writer, motivational speaker and self-care advocate Mable Timmons-Thomas has been gifted with a special ability to provide care to those when they need it most. It is a divine calling that she discovered as a young girl caring for her grandmother and a skill she has honed after years of caring for family and friends experiencing various health issues. She has dedicated her life to supporting caregivers through education, advice, sharing her personal experiences, and the knowledge she’s gained by helping others.
The Montgomery, Alabama native’s life, marriage and family have taken her to five states: Atlanta, Georgia; Jacksonville, Florida; Brandon, Mississippi; Spanaway, Washington; and Frisco, Texas.
A retired certified public manager, her career has included positions as human resource director for the Alabama Department of Corrections, personnel director for the Alabama Department of Insurance, assistant director for Alabama Public Health, and a stint in former Alabama Governor Fob James’ administration. She also co-developed and taught classes on stress management and diversity at Auburn University Montgomery.
Timmons-Thomas is actively involved in her church where she serves as a deaconess, works with the Women’s Ministry, and coordinator for the Compassion International Ministry for Shiloh. She also sang in the choir, and served as a Superintendent of Sunday School and was a Sunday School teacher. Mable enjoys reading, writing and speaking to groups about her life and experiences in caregiving.
She is married to Rev. Walter Benson Thomas who is a certified clinical pastoral educator, and is the mother of one son, Kenneth Timmons.
